Anchorage library fines going up

Posted: Wednesday, May 05, 2010

ANCHORAGE - If you're late returning library materials, you might want to stop by the bank before the library.

Officials at the Anchorage Public Library said fines are going up next month.

The increases are in response to budget restrictions and limited funding to replace lost or stolen materials.

The daily fine for an adult book doubles to 50 cents per day. The fine for late youth books goes to a quarter a day, up a dime.

Fines for DVDs, CS and other media remains $1 per day. The maximum fine per item also remains at $5.

But the library said any item over 17 days late will cost you a replacement fee plus a $5 processing fee.
