Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Mark Mergenthal, 21, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday near Aisek Street for drunken driving. He also was charged with failure to stop at the direction of a police officer. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A woman reported at 3:44 p.m. Saturday from Fritz Cove Road the theft of an outboard motor valued at $1,500 from a storage container.

• A woman reported at 10:44 p.m. Saturday from Glacier Avenue the theft of a maroon leather purse from her vehicle between 9 and 11:45 p.m.

• A digital camera, valued at $399, was reported stolen at 9:19 a.m. Saturday from a residence on Glacier Highway. The camera was stolen sometime last weekend. Police have no leads or suspects.

• A man reported at 12:54 p.m. Saturday from Sandy Beach the theft of his blue Nokia cell phone valued at $60. Police have no leads or suspects.

• A woman reported at 12:55 p.m. Saturday from Sunset Drive the theft of a blue Vega sport bike from her residence.

• A man reported at 3:35 p.m. Saturday from Mendenhall Mall Road the theft of a 120 Mega memory chip valued at $30.

Underage drinking:

• Police cited and released a man, 18, for underage drinking at 6:25 a.m. Sunday near Long Run Drive during a check of a residence.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a boy, 17, for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle following a one-vehicle accident at 8:41 p.m. Sunday near Glacier Highway in Auke Bay. The boy was a passenger in a vehicle that went off the road when its driver, a girl, 17, lost control of the vehicle. She was cited for driving without a license.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Sunday at 10:17 a.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek and at 12:13 today near Mendenhall Loop Road.
