Man wounded in Wasilla shooting

ANCHORAGE - A Chickaloon man was shot Sunday afternoon near the entrance to a McDonald's in Wasilla, but the victim was not saying much about how it happened, according to police.

Gordon Carvalho, 19, was shot in the shoulder about 2:30 p.m. when he stopped to talk to another man, said Wasilla Police Chief Don Savage. The motive for the attack was not immediately known, Savage said.

"We think he knows the person who shot him," but "at this point he's not in any condition to be interviewed," Savage said.

Carvalho was driven to a clinic by his mother, who was present when he was shot, Savage said. He was later taken to Anchorage for further treatment. Police are looking for a small light-colored, newer-model sedan in connection with the incident.
