Taku Oil among the winners in One-Pitch Softball Tournament

Taku Oil outslugged Imperial for a 33-25 victory Sunday in the Men's C Division championship game of the Juneau Douglas Officials Association One-Pitch Softball Tournament.

The tourney was the opening event of the 2003 Juneau softball season, which begins today.

In other division championship games:

• Men's D: Floors Galore edged Anchor Electric in extra innings, 14-13.

• Men's E: Juneau Business Interiors hammered the Crusaders, 26-12 in a game called after 4 1/2 innings on the 10-run rule.

• Men's F: TIA Cruisers defeated Double Ugly, 15-12.

• Women's: Doak's Lock and Key beat Viking, 17-7.

Leading teams in the coed divisions were:

• Coed C-Mendenhall: first place, Highlanders; second, Delta Western.

• Coed D-Gastineau: first, Technobytes; second, Foodland Center.

• Coed E-Mount Juneau: first, The View Salon; second place, Sandbar Party Fouls.

• Coed F-Glacier Trail: first, Hazardous Wastes; second, Gastineau Guiding.

• Coed G-Mount Bradley: first, The Pirates; second, Doug's Auto Body.

Upcoming softball tournaments include the Marlintini's Coca-Cola Tournament on May 30-June 1 and the Rainball tourney on June 20-22.
