JDHS softball - The Juneau-Douglas High School softball team (6-0) concludes its four-game homestand at Melvin Park on Friday. Juneau's JV and Ketchikan play at noon, Ketchikan and West Valley play at 2 p.m. followed by Juneau and West Valley at 4 p.m.

Juneau Invitational track and field meet - The Juneau Invitational will start at 2 p.m. Friday and will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. All of Southeast' Alaska team's will compete, as well as Kodiak's boys squad.

Magnificent Mendenhall Mud Puddle Meet - The Southeast Road Runners will host the 29th running of the Magnificent Mendenhall Mud Puddle meet will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at the UAS Auke Lake Parking Lot. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The 8-mile course will start at the UAS library, go t the highway, through the Brotherhood Bridge parking lot, up the river trail and River Road, on to Back Loop and to the UAS library again. There will also be a 1-mile race at 9:10 a.m. Fee for adults is $5 pre-register and $8 race day while kids 18-and-under are $1. Info: Glenn Frick, 789-7279

Ulitmate Players of Southeast Alaska league - The Ultimate Players of Southeast Alaska hosts the Ultimate Frisbee Co-Ed league running from May 13 to June 28. CCSL Co-ed Masters Outdoor Soccer - The Capital City Soccer League will host masters outdoor soccer for players older than 30 on Sundays form 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park from April 22 to June 17. Cost is $25. Registration at www.juneausoccer.com. Info: CCSL, 523-9196.
Co-ed Master's Indoor Soccer Sunday - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer Sundays is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. Dzantik'i Heeni open gym - Community Schools in cooperation with the PEP grant is sponsoring open gyms at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School on Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for youth in grades 6-12. There is no charge and youth are encouraged to bring a basketball or volleyball. Info: Community Schools, 523-1774.
Open Badminton Gym - There will be open badminton at Auke Bay School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. All skill levels are encouraged to attend. Bring a racquet if you have one. Birdies will be provided. Cost is $3 per person. Info: Theresa, 790-2499.
Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: Juneau Community Schools, 463-1717.
Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
