Registration deadline for Co-op Nursery School

Registration forms are available for the fall 2003 semester at the Juneau Co-op Nursery School.

The program for children 20 months to 3 years old offers morning sessions 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at Northern Light United Church downtown. The school is a nonprofit, non-denominational program where children generally attend one morning a week.

Classes have six children and two parent volunteers, and offer art, physical activity and socialization. Semester tuition is $40.

A registration lottery will be held at the church at 6:30 p.m. May 14. For more information call 586-9421.

Juneau History grant applications due May 15

Students, teachers, organizations and individuals of all ages are encouraged to apply for up to $1,000 to assist them in the completion of a project that will document, preserve or improve access to the history of the greater-Juneau area.

Applications are available at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum at 4th and Main streets, or at the Parks and Recreation office at 155 South Seward Street, or by phone, 586-3572. Applications are due at the City Museum before 4 p.m. on May 15.

The City Museum is a program of the Juneau Parks and Recreation Department.

Zeb Schorr to receive J.D. degree

On May 19 Zeb Schorr is to receive a J.D. degree at the 263rd commencement of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Schorr was a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School in 1996 and of Vassar College in 2000. He is senior editor of the law journal and a member of the Penn moot court team. This academic year he worked at the Intellectual Property Law Division of the Philadelphia Dept. of Law. He has accepted a federal judicial law clerkship at the United States District Court in Los Angeles.
