Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Police arrested Kelly Matthew Hulse, 26, on charges of drunken driving, driving with a canceled Alaska license and two counts of reckless endangerment at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday near Sandy Beach. Police also cited him on a littering charge, lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and impounded the 1996 Subaru he was driving.
Police arrested a boy, 17, and a man, 19, on shoplifting charges at 12:37 p.m. Thursday near Mendenhall Mall Road. They released the younger suspect to a parent and lodged the older one at the state prison.
A woman reported at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday that her purse was stolen from her vehicle three days earlier near Fritz Cove Road. Although it was later returned, she said $85 was removed from it.
A woman called police at 12:29 p.m. Wednesday to report she backed her 1998 Ford Expedition into a taxi on Teal Street in the Mendenhall Valley. She reported contacting the driver of the taxi.
At 11:41 a.m. Wednesday, Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a car fire near pumps the canopy at the Tesoro gas station near Mendenhall Mall Road. When they arrived, they found the car had been pushed out from under the canopy. They extinguished the fire, which was confined to the engine compartment. The driver told firefighters the fire started when the engine backfired while starting.
A boy, 15, was cited and released on a criminal trespass charge at 9:02 p.m. Wednesday near Anka Street at the city gravel pit in the Lemon Creek area.
A woman reported at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday that someone unknown had scratched her Honda Civic with a key near Glacier Highway. Damage was estimated at $500.
A man reported at 6:09 p.m. Wednesday that he lost a .22-caliber Ruger pistol near Montana Creek Road. The gun was valued at $200.
A woman reported at 8:29 p.m. Wednesday that she found a red boy's mountain bike in a ditch at Egan Drive and Mendenhall Loop Road.
At 9:11 a.m. Thursday, a man turned over to police another person's identification and credit card that he reportedly found near Riverside Drive and Gee Street in the Mendenhall Valley.
An officer responding to a reported litter violation at 9 a.m. Thursday near Glacier Highway in the Lemon Creek area found that a bear had gotten into trash and broken the doors off of a shed.
