Alaska State Troopers recovered a body Sunday from woods near Whitestone Harbor, not far from where a Juneau hunter was reported missing in December.
The body is expected to arrive today at the state medical examiner's office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
The troopers heard about 7 p.m. Saturday that a body had been found in the woods about three miles from Whitestone Harbor, which is accessible by road from Hoonah.
On Sunday the troopers collected the remains. A trooper news release said the site was near the area searched for Robert Williams Jr., a 21-year-old Juneau man who was reported missing on Dec. 15 during a hunting trip with three companions.
No other details were available by the Empire's midday press time.
