Juneau police, fire officials, hospital officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

About 6:30 a.m. today, a man, 52, reported a possible drunken driver on Vintage Boulevard. Police subsequently arrested Albert Hester, 58, for driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood-alcohol level higher than 0.10 percent. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center, and his vehicle was impounded.

Thefts, lost/found items:

Police responded about 8:30 a.m. Monday to a report of a theft that occurred over the weekend on Gold Street. Investigation continues.

A man, 32, reported about 2 p.m. Monday that the distributor had been stolen out of his truck parked on Shaune Drive.

A man, 46, reported about 5:45 p.m. Monday from Fifth Street that a cellular phone had been stolen from his truck. The phone had been bolted to the floor of the truck.

A man, no age given, reported about 6 p.m. Monday that his black specialized Hardrock bicycle was stolen from South Franklin Street.


Shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, police arrested a man, 21, in the Mendenhall Valley for assault, two counts of assault on a police officer and criminal trespass. Alcohol was involved. He was lodged at state prison.

Vehicle accidents:

Police responded about 1:30 p.m. Monday to a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Sixth and Main streets. A white Ford pickup and a parked blue and cream Ford Carry-All were involved. Police estimated total damage at $500.

Police responded to a rollover accident about 6 p.m. Monday on Glacier Highway past Eagle Beach. Damage to a 1985 Ford Carry-all was estimated at $3,500. A girl, 17, was cited for underage drinking and transported to Miller House. Investigation continues.

Police responded about 7:15 p.m. Monday to a traffic accident near the intersection of Third and Gold streets. They cited a man, 32, for driving without a valid license. A silver Chevy sustained about $500 damage after striking a parked green and white Chevy pickup, which sustained minor damage.

Warrant arrests:

About 11:30 a.m. Monday, police arrested a man, 19, on Renninger Drive on an outstanding JPD warrant for non-compliance with a sentence ordering him to enroll in, pay for and complete an anti-violence course. The man was lodged at state prison.

Police conducted a traffic stop about 2 p.m. Monday on Willoughby Avenue. They arrested a woman, 49, on an outstanding Juneau assault warrant. The woman was noncompliant with a sentence to take an anti-violence course. She was lodged at state prison.

About 1 a.m. today, police arrested a girl, 17, in the Mendenhall Valley on an outstanding Juneau warrant. She was lodged at Johnson Youth Center.


A law enforcement boarding team from the Coast Guard cutter Liberty terminated the voyage of a fishing boat Saturday in Icy Strait for insufficient safety gear. Lady Jo, a 48-foot fishing vessel home-ported in Juneau, was terminated for lacking two fire extinguishers. The vessel is required to carry three. The skipper of Lady Jo volunteered to go to Elfin Cove and acquire the necessary equipment. The Liberty escorted Lady Jo and cleared the skipper to get under way again after he purchased two extinguishers.

Shortly after midnight Monday, a man, 39, was arrested at a South Franklin liquor store for being intoxicated on a licensed premises. He was lodged at state prison.

Shortly after midnight Monday, police issued a man, 61, a citation at Marine Park for failing to register as a sex offender. Alcohol was involved. The man was released at the scene.
