Foraker Group holds workshop today

JUNEAU - The Foraker Group is sponsoring a workshop, "Strategies for Successful Advocacy: Getting Ready for Effective Policy Work," from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Vocational Training and Resource Center, 3239 Hospital Drive.
The workshop, as part of the on-going ConocoPhillips/United Way of Anchorage Leadership Series, will examine public policy and help you understand how it affects your organization is a shared responsibility of the board and staff. Promoting good public policy through advocacy not only is appropriate, it is encouraged. In May, The Foraker Group presents this one-day workshop. Presenters will be Kathleen Pierce and Nancy Amidei.

School Nurse Daycelebrated today
JUNEAU - The National Association of School Nurses Inc. has chosen today as National School Nurse Day, with "Healthy Children Learn Better" being this year's theme. National School Nurse Day was established in 1972 to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting.
National School Nurse Day falls on the Wednesday during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing.
The 2007 Alaska School Nurse of the Year is Janet Capito, from Gastineau Elementary School and the Juneau Charter School in Juneau.
