Man sentenced for sexual abuse of toddler

ANCHORAGE - A Shungnak man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and 15 years probation for sexually abusing a toddler, Alaska State Troopers said.

Chester Cleveland, 25, was sentenced in Kotzebue court.

He was convicted in January for sexually abusing a 3-year-old boy he was baby-sitting in 2006.

Judge Ben Esch said the sentence was warranted given Cleveland's lack of remorse.

Shungnak is a community of 260 people located 150 miles east of Kotzebue.
