Women's writing journal accepts work

Sound off on the important issues at

Alaska Women Speak is accepting writing submissions for the summer 2006 issue of the quarterly women's writing journal.

The theme for the issue is "Walk on the Wild Side" or "Alaska Adventure Stories."

Stone to lecture on Juneau mines

Author and historian David Stone will host a discussion and slide presentation, "The Great Mines of Juneau," at 7 p.m., May 11 at Centennial Hall.

Sponsored by Greens Creek Mines, the presentation will discuss Juneau's three hard-rock mines: Treadwell Complex, Alaska Gastineau and Alaska Juneau.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children and seniors. They can be purchased beforehand at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum or at the door. For more information, call 586-3572.
