Jessica Dillon, of Anchorage views a parchment version of the Alaska Constitution commissioned by her grandfather, Thomas B. Stewart, Secretary of the Constitutional Convention. Calligrapher Walter W. Ferris, formerly Chief of Design and Typography of the U.S. Government Printing Office, was commissioned to handscribe the entire document in calligraphy. The parchment leaves were bound in blue Moroccan leather by Schulberth Bookbindery in San Francisco. Jessica just passed the Alaska Bar exam and attended the Alaska Bar Convention at Centennial Hall last week. This parchment constitution was on display for only three days, during the Alaska Bar Convention.
