Consortium to expand behavioral health services on POW

Posted: Sunday, May 10, 2009

KLAWOCK - The state of Alaska has awarded the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium an interim contract so SEARHC can expand its behavioral health services on Prince of Wales Island.

The state award is through the remainder of the state's fiscal year, which ends June 30. The contract partially funds SEARHC so it can provide services that formerly were offered by Communities Organized for Health Options, which no longer is providing behavioral health or substance abuse services on Prince of Wales.

Patients needing routine behavioral health services can contact SEARHC Alicia Roberts Medical Center Behavioral Health Clinic at 907-755-4935 in Klawock.

In the case of an emergency, it is important to note that the Craig Police Department or Alaska State Troopers serves as the initial responders. If necessary, the medical staff from the SEARHC Alicia Roberts Medical Center in Klawock will provide medical consult for law enforcement. ARMC medical staff will contact SEARHC Behavioral Health staff for urgent mental health or substance abuse needs.

For more information, patients can call SEARHC Community Family Services Program Director Carolyn Lemmon at 907-966-8884 in Sitka.
