Anchorages's Bryc "Big Sexy" Palmer, 22, weighing 268 pounds, brought his record to 15-4-0 in his win over Gabe "The Truth" Duckworth.

"I'm still the greatest," said Duckworth about the decision. "You saw that."

Duckworth took a pummeling early in round one, then he answered with a barrage of punches until his blows got too low and referee Joe Isturis broke them up. Round two was even with boxers sucking air at the bell. In round three, Palmer dodged some heavy leather and the decision went to him.

"I feel great," said Palmer, who's been fighting and training for five years now in Soldotna, Fairbanks, Anchorage and even in the lower-48 states. "I'm a cage fighter normally. I was in a cage fight last Wednesday and knocked a guy out with a head kick."

Jack Duckworth, 54, who said he fights for "moments of glory," got his moment when he won the middleweight title belt in a split decision over Shawn Beard, 28, who recently moved back from Seattle. Beard hasn't fought in the last 2 ½ years and trains while lifting boxes for World Wide Movers. Duckworth was delivered a standing eight count early in round one when Beard surprised him. Beard talked about his strategy before the fight saying, "He's got the reach, so I have to work inside and get him in the corner. He can dance, he can move and I have to stay away from this right hook and dance around."

"I was bummed about my first round. I couldn't believe I got knocked down," said Duckworth after the bout.

He used his reach to grab the last two rounds and take the title belt, then he did his signature victory break dance.

Tyson Duckworth, 29, defeated Brian Lauth, 19, in a decision for the lightweight belt. Lauth was the aggressor through round one with Duckworth testing his strength. Tyson out-tagged Lauth to grab round two, and in round three, Lauth woke up to deliver some big blows. It was not enough for the win.

"The belt is awesome. It's been a long time coming and hopefully I'll get one next year, too," said Duckworth post fight.

Luis Garcia, 18, a first-time fighter, defeated Wrangell's William "Zeitgeist" Musser, 27, bringing his record to 0-2-0 with a barrage of punches, sending him down for a standing eight count.

"I had my head down and he caught with a great uppercut. It was right on the button under the chin. I saw stars," said Musser after the bout.

Musser, who had been preparing for the bout for six months, was impressed with Garcia's conditioning.

Heavyweight James "The Beast" Roberts Jr., 24, weighing 320 pounds, picked up a late TKO over Kyle Bischoff, 28, weighing 219 pounds, after referee Joe Isturis stopped the bout in round three. Roberts had Bischoff on the run the whole fight.

The first MMA battle of the night featured two first-time fighters. Sea Dog Fisheries employee Noah "The Can Opener" Mayo, 31, defeated Joe "Squid Lid" Van Orden, 44, in a first-round TKO. Mayo got Orden in a kimura to grab the win.

"I could have broken his arm, but I didn't want to hurt him," said Mayo after the fight.

Van Orden said he didn't tap out because Mayo wasn't hurting his arm.

"He's got to put my arm where I can't get to it, you know what I mean," said Van Orden.

Mayo said he thought the fight was a mismatch and wants a better match up.

Alaskan Brewing Company employee Henry Dehling, 24, with a record of 6-4-1, defeated Klawock's Steven Roberts, 19, bringing his record to 3-3-0 in a bloody MMA bout. Roberts retired after a brutal knee to his eye had it swollen shut and bleeding.

"I think the fight wasn't even, it was a mismatch," said Dehling, whose strategy going in was to keep it a standing fight, because Roberts is good on the floor.

Another MMA bout included Charlie Gallant winning via TKO over Christopher Davison 56 seconds into round one. In the end, Gallant had Davison on his back getting smacked with down blows that bloodied his nose.
