• Juneau-Douglas High School baseball - The Juneau-Douglas High School baseball team will host a four-game series with Ketchikan and defending state champion Sitka starting Thursday.

THURSDAY-Ketchikan JV vs. Juneau-Douglas JV, noon, Melvin Park; Ketchikan JV vs. JDHS JV, 3 p.m., Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park; Ketchikan vs. Juneau-Douglas, 6 p.m., Adair-Kennedy.

• Southeast Regional Championships Track and Field Meet - Juneau-Douglas High School hosts the annual Southeast Region championships at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. The is the last meet of the season before the team heads off the state championships in Fairbanks. Friday's events start at 2 p.m. while Saturday's action kicks off at 10 a.m.

• Juneau-Douglas High School softball - The Juneau-Douglas High School with host Ketchikan and Lathrop this weekend at Melvin Park.

FRIDAY-Prince of Wales vs. Juneau-Douglas JV, 11a.m. and 1 p.m.; Lathrop JV vs. JDHS JV, 3 p.m.; Lathrop vs. JDHS, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

SATURDAY-Lathrop JV vs. Ketchikan JV, 9 a.m.; Lathrop vs. Ketchikan, 10:30 a.m.; Lathrop JV vs. JDHS JV, 2 p.m.; Lathrop vs. JDHS, 4 p.m.

SUNDAY-Ketchikan vs. JDHS, 3 p.m.; Ketchikan JV vs. JDHS JV, 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 13

• May Mud and Mountain Run - Run across the Mendenhall Wetlands at low tide. There are two course, 3 and 7 miles. Race begins at 8 a.m. from the Fish Creek Parking Lot on North Douglas Highway. Pre-register at both JRC/The Alaska Club locations, Nugget Alaskan Outfitter or Foggy Mountain shop or 30 minutes before the race. Also, volunteers are needed. Timers, course moniors, road crossings, refreshments and registration people are needed at 7:15 p.m. They may also participate in the race. Info: David Thompson, 586-1363.

Sunday, May 14

• 2nd Annual Mothers Day Bike Ride and Race - The Juneau Freewheelers present the second annual women's only bike ride and race. The race starts at 10 a.m. at Mike Hatch Jeep. The race will be 22 miles. The race is $5, $10 if you need a day license. The ride is free. Info: Janice Sheufelt, 463-1237.

Sunday, May 21

• UAS Alumni and Friends Gustavus Golf Tournament - This scramble tournament leaves Don Statter Public Boat Harbor at 8:30 a.m. and arrives back in Juneau at 9 p.m. The fee includes boat transportation, 18 holes of golf, breakfast, lunch and a light dinner. Team and individual reservations are accepted with payment. The tournament is limited to 52 golfers. Cost is $150 per person with current UAS Alumni and Friends membership, or $175 for non-members. Saturday, May 27

• Sea Coast Relay - The Southeast Road Runners present the 16th annual Sea Coast Relay. The race, starting at Eagle Beach main picnic shelter and ending at the UAS Egan Library, is a 21.59-mile rely with exchange points along Juneau's most poplar areas. There will be live music on the course and at the finish. Teams can register at either JRC/The Alaska Club location or Nugget Alaskan Outfitter. Info: Dawn Walsh, 364-3410 or



• Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Outdoor Soccer registration - Registration will be held May 8-19 at the Parks and Recreation office or the Zach Gordon Youth Center. Forms are available at Volunteer coaches and paid referees are also needed for the season. Info: 586-5226 or

• Capital City Soccer League schedule - The Capital City Soccer League will hold its open soccer schedule on Sundays at Adair Kennedy Memorial Park from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Wednesday, May 24 and May 31, at Adair Kennedy from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Info: CCSL, 523-9196.

• Community Schools Open Adult Gym time - There will be open adult gym at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School for soccer on Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. For basketball and volleyball, there will be open gym time on Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a $5 fee and players should bring their own soccer balls, basketballs or volleyballs. • Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
