Alaska closes another king salmon fishery

ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Department of Fish and Game shut down commercial king salmon fishing in part of the upper Cook Inlet between the Chuitna and Susitna rivers.

The Anchorage Daily News reports Tuesday's action follows the decision last week to close the Chuitna, Theodore and Lewis rivers to allow more fish to spawn.

King salmon returns have been poor the past few years in much of Alaska.
