Wednesday-Thursday, May 16-17

• JDHS girls soccer - The Juneau-Douglas High School girls soccer team and junior varsity team will face Ketchikan for a pair of Southeast Conference games at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Times TBA.

Wed., Fri., Sat., May 16, 18, 19

• JDHS softball - The Juneau-Douglas High School softball team will host Sitka at 7:30 p.m. at Melvin Park. The Crimson Bears will then play a pair of doubleheaders against Prince of Wales at 5 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday at Melvin Park.

Thursday-Saturday, May 17-19

• JDHS baseball - The Juneau-Douglas High School baseball team will host Southeast Conference rivals Ketchikan and two-time defending state champions Sitka for a series of games at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Times TBA.

Friday-Saturday, May 18-19

• Region V track and field meet - The annual Region V track and field meet will take place at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. The regional meet will determine who qualifies for the state tournament. Friday's action starts with the high jump at 1 p.m. with races taking place at 3 p.m. On Saturday, field events start at 10 a.m. with track events kicking off at 10:30 a.m.

• JDHS boys soccer - The Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team and junior varsity team will face Ketchikan for a pair of Southeast Conference games at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Junior varsity games take place at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7 p.m.

• CCSL 7-a-side tournament - The Capital City Soccer League's 7-A-Side tournament will take place June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Cost is $10 to register by May 21 and $15 by June 1. Men's and women's summer competitive leagues start June 24. Classic women's league is $50. Registration due by June 5. • CCSL Co-ed Masters Outdoor Soccer - The Capital City Soccer League will host masters outdoor soccer for players older than 30 on Sundays form 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park from April 22 to June 17. Cost is $25. Registration at www.juneausoccer.com. Info: CCSL, 523-9196.

• Co-ed Master's Indoor Soccer Sunday - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer Sundays is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. OPEN GYMS / SCRIMMAGES / ONGOING

• Dzantik'i Heeni open gym - Community Schools in cooperation with the PEP grant is sponsoring open gyms at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School on Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for youth in grades 6-12. There is no charge and youth are encouraged to bring a basketball or volleyball. Info: Community Schools, 523-1774.

• Open Badminton Gym - There will be open badminton at Auke Bay School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. All skill levels are encouraged to attend. Bring a racquet if you have one. Birdies will be provided. Cost is $3 per person. Info: Theresa, 790-2499.

• Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. • Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Participants must be able to swim crawlstroke and backstroke. Info: Augustus Brown swim pool, 586-5325.

• Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: Juneau Community Schools, 463-1717.

• Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
