JUNEAU - Mining Historian David Stone will present "The Impacts of Mining and Milling Technology" at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, in the Hammond Room at Centennial Hall.
Stone's presentation will highlight finger chutes, bulldoze chambers, tipples and other unusual mining and milling equipment that was developed in Juneau's mines. Stone will discuss how these technological advancements impacted both the mining industry and the communities of Juneau, Douglas, Treadwell and Thane.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and youth 12 and under. Tickets are available in advance at the city museum and at the door. The event is co-sponsored by the Juneau-Douglas City Museum and Greens Creek Mining Company.
