Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Jaymee Abear, 39, was arrested for drunken driving at 10 p.m. Monday near the airport. He also was charged with driving with a suspended license and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


A 37-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a 45-year-old man downtown at 10:30 p.m. Monday. He was taken to state prison.


A 20-year-old man was arrested for misconduct involving a controlled substance and theft from a downtown shop at 5:45 p.m. Monday and then released. He and a 21-year-old man were issued criminal trespass letters from the business involved.

Vehicle accidents:

An unsupervised 3-year-old got into his parents' parked vehicle and released the brake at 10:30 a.m. Monday near Geneva Woods. The vehicle rolled down a hill into a wooded area and was totaled. The child was unhurt. The parents were given a verbal warning.

Animal encounters:

A bear was reported in the Rotary Park area at 2 p.m. Monday.

A cornered bear was reported near Riverbend School at 3 p.m. Monday.

A bear was reported trying to get into a Dumpster near the Juneau Medical Clinic at 8:30 p.m. Monday.


A 34-year-old man either fell or jumped off the downtown dock at 7 p.m. Monday. He got out of the water on his own, then was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for bruises and possible hypothermia. He was released three hours later.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for driving with a revoked license at 6 a.m. Tuesday near Amalga Harbor and released.
