Juneau resident Shawn Rider qualified for the 2002 winter quarter dean's honor list at Southern Oregon University where she is an archeology major. She also qualified for the president's list for the fall of 2002 while studying in Segovia, Spain. Shawna has qualified for either the president's or dean's list during her sophomore and junior years at OSU.

To qualify for the dean's list students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99, and to qualify for the president's list students must achieve a grade point average of 4.00.

Southern Oregon University is located in Ashland, Ore.

Jamie Matheson of Douglas qualified for the dean's honor list at Eastern Washington University for winter quarter 2002.

To be listed, a student must carry at least 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 (4.0 scale) or above.

Five Southeast Alaska residents have been offered a Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarship to attend Montana State University in Bozeman.

Juneau residents Gregory Albrecht, Liz Brooks, Jesse Stringer and Kari Urata and Petersburg resident Reid Tulloch will receive more than $20,000 over four years. Recipients are selected for outstanding academic performance in the past and for their potential to be outstanding additions to the MSU student body.

Juneau resident Mike Weaver, son of Doug Weaver and Leslie and Hal Daugherty, was placed on the dean's list at Pacific University for the fall 2001 semester.

A junior majoring in mathematics, Weaver completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and earned at least a 3.7 grade point average to qualify for the dean's list. Pacific University is located in Forest Grove, Ore.

Lucy Baumgartner Looper, daughter of Bill and Sarah Baumgartner was named to the presidents list at Sheridan College for maintaining a cumulative 4.0 GPA. She recently has been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for outstanding acedemic achievments, and has also been selected as the recipient of both the Golden Opportunity Scholarship and the Ivadell A. Swindler Scholarship.

Kara Lindley of Juneau has been named to the dean's list for the fall of 2001 at Biola University.

The dean's list honors those students who earned a semester grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.60 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credit units, and whose cumulative G.P.A. is at least 3.2.

Biola University is a Christian liberal arts university located in La Mirada, Calif.
