Airline: Juneau fares flat for now

Juneau travelers may get a respite on fare hikes for the moment.

"We have no present plans to increase fares on our Juneau flights, but we're constantly reviewing fares across our entire system and working to reduce costs in light of soaring fuel prices," said Caroline Boren, spokeswoman for Alaska Airlines.

She said the last fare increases for Juneau flights were several months ago, and they affected all Alaska routes.

Since then, she said, oil prices have gone up another $20 a barrel, and Alaska Air Group's losses have tripled over the same period last year.
