The Juneau-Douglas High School girls soccer team heads to Fairbanks today for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff against North Pole that opens a three-game road stand.
The Crimson Bears (5-2-2 overall, 2-0 Southeast Conference) will also take on both West Valley and Lathrop Saturday.
JDHS head coach Matt Dusenberry said he doesn't know much about North Pole, which stands in fourth place in the Mid-Alaska Conference with a 3-4 season record.
Dusenberry is familiar with the MAC's first-place team, 9-2-1 West Valley, due to his summer club affiliations across the state.
"They've had a couple of different girls' teams win state titles in different age groups in past years," Dusenberry said. "Now they're all in the high school ages. It's a pretty talented group. They should be a pretty good game for us."
The Lathrop team is also largely a mystery to Dusenberry, but appear ready to provide a challenge while sitting in second-place in the MAC with a 5-2-0 record.
Both the JDHS varsity and junior varsity squads wrap up the regular season by hosting Ketchikan May 22-23 in SEC contests. The JDHS varsity swept both games at Ketchikan to open the season.
