... for successful 4-H ski season
Thanks go out to all the young skiers, the parents and guest coaches who made the 4-H Nordic Ski Club so much fun this year. Sixty-five skiers between grades K and 12 signed up and we managed to scratch out a good season in a marginal winter. All 4-H programs encourage parent participation, and many Sunday afternoons found our ranks swelled with adults assisting and skiing alongside beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers. Guest coaches were invaluable for allowing the larger group to break into smaller skill groups. Thank you Jeff and Sue Sloss, Michelle Ridgeway, Greg Beck, Christy Leer, Marc Scholten, John and Judy Neary, Glen Frick, Ann Boochever, the Botelho-Clarks, Shaul-Jensens, Bornsteins and Ramseth families. Jim Douglas, our cooperative extension agent, was full of energy and assistance as always. Skiing for fun and fitness would not be possible without trails. For these we would like to thank Eaglecrest and the Juneau Nordic Ski Club. Finally, without the City and Borough of Juneau Youth Activity Grant program the 4-H Nordic club would not be able to provide young skiers with equipment. Without club equipment, many skiers would not have been able to participate. And thanks to everyone who "thought snow." It paid off.
