Julian Diess, a new rider to Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club events, claimed the title in the Dimond Park mountain bike race held Sunday afternoon in the woods around Dimond Park.
Diess posted a time of 31 minutes, 3 seconds over the three-lap course, while Jeff Donaldsen took second overall in 33:20.
The event had been scheduled a week earlier, but was delayed because of a construction project at the park. The rescheduled date allowed the course to include a new bridge, a substantial hill climb and a high-speed descent.
