Bill McAllister has been appointed to host the Alaska's SuperStation news magazine program "Capital Focus."
McAllister, state government and legislative reporter for the Juneau Empire, took over hosting duties for Capital Focus on April 28. McAllister replaced Joe Holbert, who hosted the show for five years.
Before arriving in Alaska, McAllister covered the Minnesota Legislature and congressional delegation for the St. Cloud Times and St. Paul Legal Ledger. He has won numerous awards, including first-place awards for in-depth articles and investigative pieces.
"The station is looking forward to a fresh, new perspective that Bill will bring to the program with his wealth of journalistic and political experience," said Sean Bradley, Alaska's SuperStation general manager.
McAllister has reported on the capital beat since 2001 and is the president of the Capital Correspondents Association.
Capital Focus airs at 5 p.m. on Sundays on KJUD Channel 8 in Juneau, KATN Channel 2 in Fairbanks, and KIMO Channel 13 in Anchorage.
