Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Fire:

Capital City Fire and Rescue reported a fire aboard a 26foot Uniflite off North Douglas about noon Wednesday. The fire was caused by a fuel overflow from a heating and cooking unit. Three people who were aboard put out the fire with a dry chemical fire extinguisher and returned to the North Douglas boat ramp. They were met by Capital City Fire and Rescue personnel. One person was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation.

Thefts:

A woman reported about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Seventh Street that a portable CD player had been stolen from her Subaru.

A woman reported about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday from Riverside Drive that her Black Diamondback bicycle had been stolen.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

A man reported about 5 p.m. Wednesday from Lemon Creek Road that he discovered a 3-foot gouge on his car's bumper.

Vehicle accidents:

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Channel Drive and Egan Drive. A 1988 Chevrolet driven by a man, 44, sustained an estimated $8,000 damage. A 1994 Chevrolet driven by a man, 39, had an estimated $200 damage. The driver of the 1994 Chevy was cited for failure to maintain safe distance. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Willoughby Street and Egan Drive. A 2000 Pontiac driven by a boy, 16, was totaled. A 1996 Dodge driven by a man, 36, also was totaled, and the driver was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The 16-year-old driver was cited for failure to yield after stopping.

Hit-and-run incidents:

A man reported about 5 p.m. Wednesday that his Chevrolet Cavalier was struck at an unknown time and place, damaging it on the passenger side.

Animal encounters:

Police received a report about 12:30 a.m. today of a bear rubbing against the sliding glass doors of a house on Mendenhall Loop Road.

Other:

A man, 43, was arrested for trespassing about 4 p.m. Wednesday near South Franklin Street. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
