I want to thank my fellow crew members for the quick response to the emergency evacuation of the M/V LeConte. Everyone knew their duties and acted swiftly and professionally. Also thanks to the passengers who responded to our directions without panic or questions. We have weekly emergency drills and it is amazing this is retained and comes back to you automatically when called upon.
It's sad and unfortunate that this accident occurred, and I hope we can save our ship that has been home away from home to our crew for so many years.
It is imperative that we keep these ships running to provide service for Alaskans as well as employment that so many of us rely on.
