A 10-year-old Juneau boy was in stable condition at Bartlett Regional Hospital on Saturday night after he was struck by a station wagon on North Douglas Highway, authorities said.
Witnesses told police the boy had been walking along the side of the road at Mile 1 when he tried to cross the highway at about 4:40 p.m. A 1996 Subaru driven by a local woman struck the child, police said.
The child was conscious and talking as emergency medical personnel from Capital City Fire and Rescue attended to him at the scene, said police Sgt. Steve Hernandez.
Hospital officials said the child was in stable condition at 6 p.m. in the emergency room. Police are investigating the incident.
