Funding of a dead-end road to nowhere is a waste of state money that could be used for better purposes. It is clear to the residents of Alaska and to the country as a whole that this project is clearly pork barrel political spending.

It is disappointing to see that in difficult financial times, a project that would only benefit the mining and construction industries is garnering $45 million of state funds. This is called corporate welfare. Existing roads are not being maintained for lack of funds.

Residents of the upper Lynn Canal are overwhelmingly against this project. We would be far better served by an upgraded and efficient marine transportation system.
