Corinne Conlon uses a router Tuesday to build steps for the Twin Lakes playground. The volunteer project to build a community playground began this week. Designed with children's help, the playground is set to include a tree fort, a fishing seiner, an ice castle, a mining cart and a maze. Organizers hope to recruit 5,000 volunteers for construction work today through Saturday and again May 22-26. Shifts are planned from 8 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 5 p.m. and 5:30 to 9 p.m. Juneau businesses and organizations will provide meals to volunteers. Project organizers say they also need tool donations.
