Alaska Railroad Corp. begins search for new CEO

ANCHORAGE - The state-owned Alaska Railroad Corp. is taking applications for a new president and CEO.

The railroad's last chief, Pat Gamble, left to head the University of Alaska system.

The new chief's salary will be negotiable. Gamble earned $262,500.

Gamble has been on leave from the railroad since April and begins at the university June 1.

The railroad position has oversight of about 800 full-time employees, 650 miles of track and a budget that brings in more than $170 million.

The application deadline is June 11.
