The Juneau Federal Employee Association held their annual awards luncheon on May 6. The awards luncheon recognized Juneau area federal employees for outstanding work in volunteer service, administrative support, team project and top federal employee of the year for accomplishments in 2008.
Outstanding Volunteer Service Award winner was Julia Ritzo, U.S. Coast Guard employee assistance program coordinator, for her efforts in the community in Suicide Intervention and supporting families following a crisis or tragedy.
Outstanding Administrative Support Award winner was Randy Jaenicke, U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service mail clerk, for his outstanding work ethic, reliability and exceptional service for the regional office.
Outstanding Team Project Award winners were Lawrence Schaufler and Pat Harris, of NOAA Auke Bay Laboratories, for their leadership and collaboration to develop and implement a multi-facility recycling program which resulted in recycling more than 5 tons of paper, 1950 cubic feet of cardboard, 180 cubic feet of plastic, 260 pounds of aluminum, 1 ton of glass products and more than 100 ink/toner printer cartridges.
And JFEA Federal Employee of the Year Award winner was Mike Swanson, U.S. Coast Guard Recreational Boating Safety Program analyst, for his dedication in developing a recreational boating safety educational program for the indigenous people of Alaska's North Slope and promoting boating throughout Alaska.
