ANCHORAGE - The Coast Guard says it has rescued two men and seven sled dogs after a helicopter crashed in the mountains near Seward.
The Anchorage Daily News reports the helicopter was heading from Seward to Godwin Glacier Saturday when it crashed in windy whiteout conditions.
A Coast Guard helicopter training nearby arrived at the crash site about 15 minutes later, and rescuers were able to hoist the men and dogs to safety.
Jimmy Lebling of Seward and Eric Ridington of Wasilla were aboard the downed helicopter.
The men and dogs were taken to Seward where they were reported to be in good condition.
