ANCHORAGE - Gov. Sean Parnell has signed three bills aimed at cracking down on domestic violence and sexual assault in the state.
The bills address issues of sentencing, bail and DNA evidence.
Parnell has set a goal of ending the violence in Alaska within a decade.
He said in a statement that the state is taking the "first of many steps" toward doing that by imposing harsher penalties on abusers, increasing awareness and giving greater support to victims.
