Please don't pass up school funds

Juneau voters should pay close attention to the May 25 municipal election if they are concerned about a lack of capital project funds for Juneau in this year's budget: We are poised to lose the new high school capital project funds, $37.9 million for 60 percent of the cost of the school, which Bill Hudson and the others worked hard to get for us several years ago, if we do not build it now.

If the proposition before us passes, that money will go away, because we have to start work on the school before Dec. 31, 2004.

Personally, I am voting no on May 25. I want to build the new high school now so we don't lose the capital project funds we do have.
