To compare a bribe of $500 per year to forgo voting on hot-button issues such as abortion to granting the oil companies a certain level of taxation if they build a gas line is a real stretch.
There are many jurisdictions that offer long-term consistent levels of taxation, such as putting a cap on mill rates on real property to encourage business development.
I am personally undecided on what inducements to offer the oil companies, but there is no question that the governor is working honestly toward an effective and equitable solution.
