UAS Alumni hold their third golf tournament

GUSTAVUS - University of Alaska Southeast Alumni and Friends will host its third annual Gustavus Golf Tournament on Sunday at the Mt. Fairweather Golf Course in Gustavus.

The charter boat departs Don Statter Public Boat Harbor in Auke Bay at 8:30 a.m., arriving back in Juneau at 9 p.m.

This 18-hole scramble includes round-trip boat transportation to Gustavus via an Allen Marine charter, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prizes include two Alaska Airlines ticket vouchers.

Cost is $150 a person with UAS Alumni and Friends membership, $17 for nonmembers. Proceeds benefit scholarships at UAS and Alumni and Friends. Call to make reservations: 796-6569.

Five scholarships now available for GED grads

JUNEAU - The Learning Connection, formerly known as SERRC's Adult Education Programs and the Juneau Adult Education Center, is proud to announce five scholarship opportunities for recent GED graduates living in Southeast Alaska.

The scholarships include three scholarship opportunities to attend any University of Alaska Southeast program (including distance education classes), a computer course at Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska's Vocational Training and Resource Center and a scholarship to The Learning Connection's Alaska Vocational Institute (a 20-week job training program in general office and computer skills).
