Grateful Dogs issues Arctic tern alert
Grateful Dogs alerts dog-walkers hiking to Nugget waterfall near Mendenhall Glacier to give wide berth to the signed sandbar on your left, May through August. The Artic tern nests here, laying its eggs on the ground. The young are unable to fly, and brooding parents will not leave their nests. Please leash your dog when passing close by this area, including the surrounding lake shores, and also on all paved areas around the Visitors Center.
