KENAI - A crawfish discovered in a Kenai swamp by a Kenai resident walking his dog was released by an Anchorage girl who wanted to save several crustaceans from a pot of gumbo.
"They let four go in the creek," Fish and Game biologist Tim McKinley said Monday.
The four crawfish were released following a crawfish feed in Kenai earlier this spring. One of them was found May 4.
"She wanted to make it have a better life," said Fish and Game assistant area management biologist Larry Marsh.
The department is fairly certain that only four of the animals were released in Kenai. Since only one has been located, McKinley said he's planning to go crawfishing again soon.
