Juneau resident Peter Allen Tassell died April 30, 2010 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. He was 76.
He was born in Douglas on March 29, 1934 to parents Joseph and Lucille Tassell. He was a Raven, Dog Salmon of the Auk Kwaan tribe of the Big Dipper House.
Growing up in Douglas, Peter enjoyed subsistence hunting, fishing, berry and seaweed picking. He lived in Juneau his whole life and enjoyed a quiet lifestyle among family and friends. He was a very active member and especially close to his church family of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He especially enjoyed fishing with Garrett, a family member of his church. He will be missed by his family, friends and church family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lucille Tassell, and four brothers and sisters, one of whom was Marion Ezrre.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy St. Clair; cousins, Dusty Rhodes, Mary (John) Williams of Washington and Mary Tassell of Montana; nephews, Eddie (Kim) Ezrre, Lizandro Ezrre, Patrick James Tassell, Joseph Tassell; nieces, Alma (David) Hunt, Dolores Healey, Rosita (Dan) Meyer, Tina St. Clair; great-nephews, Michael James Healy, Jocelin Olson of Oregon; great-nieces, Angelina Healey, Sierra Lynne Ezrre, Ashely Hunt, Rachel Tiffer, Chastity Gunter, Angelicia Monette, and numerous great-great-nieces and extended family.
At his request, there will be no funeral service.
