Cover contraception

Our present state of women's health care is intolerable. Over half the United States' population is women, yet the domination of our state and federal government by older, white men allows it. Specifically, our anti-choice legislation continues to block bills requiring insurance companies to cover contraceptives as they would any other prescription drug. Because of this, more insurance companies cover Viagra than FDA-approved prescription contraception. What irony, that our government will support increased sexual activity by funding Viagra prescriptions for men, yet refuses to fund contraception. Furthermore, legislation prevents women's right to choose. Synthesis of this information tells me that the U.S. government promotes men's sexual activity but thwarts women from preventing pregnancy, and furthermore, prohibits abortion rights once pregnancy occurs.

How can we tolerate this egregious discrepancy in men's and women's rights, particularly when more than half of the U.S. population is women? In addition to the blatant disregard for over half of the public constituency, these policies are further detrimental as the world population continues to rise by 72 million people annually. We must put a stop to this insanity. Make insurance coverage of contraception a priority.
