Republicans seek unlimited power

Letter to the editor

Not content with control of 10 of 13 federal appeals courts, Republican senators are poised to violate their own rules in order to give Republicans unlimited power to appoint extremist judges.

This is a terrible precedent and could hold up legislation that is important to Alaska. Alaskans need senators that will work in a bipartisan manner and put the best interests of Alaska ahead of the wishes of the small vocal minority of the religious right. With approval of congressional Republicans currently at 35 percent and falling, Republicans would be wise to remember that they may soon be in the minority again.
