... for helping our school
It's that time of year again, when I would like to thank all of those folks who have helped us here at Gastineau School. Each of our classes had two skating sessions at Treadwell Arena this year. Many thanks to Greg Smith and the Treadwell Arena Staff. I would also like to thank the members of the Juneau Skating Club: Lauren Andersen, Elizabeth Calvert, Charlie Davidson, Pam Green, Susan Kugelman, Kim Mix, Randy Rice, Debbie Roberts, Sari Saunders, Suzanne Hebert and Sigrid Dahlberg. These people not only left their jobs, but also donated much of their time. Many thanks should also go to the employers of these folks who made it possible for them to leave their jobs so they could teach our youth to ice skate. These employers are: Shattuck and Grummett, UAF School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Juneau Youth Services, Alaska Pacific Bank and Carson Dorn.
Once again this year we had our Fit For Life Program. Thank you Juneau Racquet Club for your support and donations. We also held a Family Game Night here at Gastineau School in April. Our volunteers from the PEP grant helped: Nikki Mealiff, Sondra Romano, Mychal Bossio and Sonja Koukel from the Cooperative Extension service and her husband, Rick, served snacks. Additionally Ali Coffey and Jeremiah Demster from SAGA helped, as did Angie Abel from AmeriCorps. We had cooperative games for families, as well as nutritious snacks, cargo net climbing, and an obstacle course. And, of course, many thanks go out to our Gastineau Parent Volunteers, who are too many too list, and also our staff who are ever willing to support me and our students by changing schedules and being flexible. Many thanks to all of you for helping to encourage physical activity in our youth.

... for supporting raffle
On behalf of the Juneau Jumpers, we want to publicly thank Alaska Airlines, Taku Glacier Lodge, Wings Airways, TEMSCO Helicopters, and the White Pass and Yukon Railways for their generous donations of prizes for this year's raffle. Thanks also go to Bullwinkle's Pizza for contributing printing costs of the raffle tickets. This year's prize winners were Gina Ragle, Gabriel Lopez, Kim Woodring, and Keith Walker.
Thanks to all the Juneau community members who bought raffle tickets in support of our team. The 2005 Juneau Jumpers fund raising raffle was a huge success and raised $20,530 this year. Proceeds enable team members to attend skills camps and compete at National Championships in Florida, along with other team expenses.
Thanks to all the folks who attended the end of year show which let the team demonstrate the skills they've acquired over the past year. We raised a record $1,553 to help buy the team uniforms and jump ropes. We are very proud of our hard working team and very grateful for the support this community has given them.
And finally, a huge thank you to the team coaches: Karen Ross, Paula Kalbrener, Semra Lee, Amy Jo Meiners, Karen Goodell and Randy Quinto and assistant coaches John Neary, Dave Carlile and Debbie Leamer. Each has contributed countless hours over the last year helping our children gain skills, dexterity, stamina, and self-confidence that will last their lifetimes. We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
