Rasmuson gives $200,000-plus to 29 Alaska artists

ANCHORAGE - The Rasmuson Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 to 29 writers, composers and artists in Alaska.

The grants were announced Tuesday at a ceremony at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in Anchorage. Composer John Luther Adams of Fairbanks received $25,000 with the annual Distinguished Artist Award.

Since it was created in 1995 the foundation has given nearly $1.5 million to promote Alaska culture.
