Salmon Creek Dam siren to be tested

Posted: Thursday, May 20, 2010

JUNEAU - Alaska Electric Light and Power will conduct a test of the emergency warning siren for the Salmon Creek Dam at 9 a.m. Friday morning.

The periodic warning siren tests warn of a possible failure of the Salmon Creek Dam. The test allows the utility's technicians to ensure the sirens are working and the sound level is adequate in the event of an actual emergency.

Salmon Creek provides drinking water and a small portion of the city's hydroelectric power.
