ANCHORAGE - Drug agents have intercepted more than 21 pounds of cocaine smuggled through the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport this year, Alaska State Troopers said.
Troopers say the drug was concealed in luggage and on the bodies of couriers. Seven people have been arrested as a result of those seizures.
The airport interdiction team is made up of two state troopers, an airport police officer and special agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The most recent seizures occurred in early May and included 5.5 pounds of cocaine smuggled into Anchorage from Los Angeles by two separate couriers, troopers said.
