Open burning ban instituted on Kenai

KENAI - The state closed permitted burning for the western Kenai Peninsula until further notice.
The state Division of Forestry instituted the suspension Tuesday. Burning in barrels is also covered under the suspension.
A 25-acre fire started early Tuesday morning near Anchor Point. Campfires are allowed during this suspension, but the state asks users to be cautious.
