Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Mark Heifert, 48, was arrested for drunken driving following a two-vehicle accident at 12:21 p.m. Tuesday near Riverside Drive and Rivercourt Way. A white Chevy pickup truck, driven by Heifert, rear-ended a brown Subaru Legacy, driven by a woman, 29. Heifert also was charged with fourth-degree assault. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• Police arrested a man, 30, for assault at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday near Mendenhall Loop Road. He was lodged at the state prison. Police said alcohol was a factor.

• A woman, 41, was arrested for domestic violence assault at 2:21 a.m. Tuesday in the Lemon Creek area. She was lodged at the state prison. Police said alcohol was a factor.


• A purple and white Magna bike was reported stolen at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday near Teslin Street.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a man, 23, for failure to exercise due care to avoid an accident following an accident at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday near Fourth Street. A 1997 GMC van, driven by the man, struck a 1993 Chevy, driven by a woman, 60. No one was injured and police did not have a damage estimate for the vehicles.

Hit-and-run incidents:

• A chain-link fence post was reported struck by an unknown vehicle at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday near Mendenhall Loop Road.

Animal encounters:

• Police killed a deer after it was struck by a vehicle at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday near inbound Egan Drive and Yandunkin Street.

• A bear was reported at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday near Mendenhall Loop Road.


• Police arrested a man, 51, for disorderly conduct at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday near David Street. He was lodged at the state prison. Police said alcohol was a factor.
