The Juneau-Douglas High School softball team got back on the winning track in a big way Wednesday in Wasilla.
The defending state champion Crimson Bears swept a doubleheader with the host Warriors. JDHS (14-2, 4-0 Railbelt) won the opener 13-0 and closed out the sweep with a 15-0 win in three innings.
In the first game, Brittany Fenumiai went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored to pace Juneau's bats.
Carrie Laliberte had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored while Lii Levale added two hits and two runs. Nethia Lavering went 1-for-2 with two runs and Rachel Peyton scored twice for JDHS.
Laliberte pitched three no-hit innings with five strikeouts to earn the win. Freshman hurler Jennifer Nelson scattered four hits in two innings of relief.
Nelson won the second game for JDHS as she allowed just two hits in three innings to blank Wasilla. Nelson struck out four batters in the win.
Levale led the offensive charge with a two-run home run and two runs scored.
Freshman Taylor Larson went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, Peyton drove in two runs off two hits and Cortney Wagner went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored for JDHS.
Also in the win, Nicole Fenumiai singled and scored twice and Krista Barril singled.
Up next for Juneau-Douglas is a doubleheader at undefeated Colony. The first game starts at 6 p.m. today.
